Job Description
The Opportunity McElhanney Ltd. is currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Civil Engineering Technologist in Kelowna, BC. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow his or her design/construction engineering experience by working on a wide variety of land development, municipal, and construction projects. The individual will be an proficient with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and other technical software. The successful candidate will work alongside the engineering, planning and environmental divisions within our Kelowna branch that services the Okanagan area. In addition, the individual will have opportunities to support McElhanney’s 30+ branches on multidisciplinary projects in a variety of service sectors. What You’ll Be Doing: Assist in the production of engineering designs and drawings that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards Transform preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed Coordinate the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates and tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved Identify field and design issues and facilitate corrective measures Liaise with contractor, client and affected stakeholders during construction operations May supervise and/or provide training and mentorship to junior technical staff Requirements Diploma in Civil Engineering or Drafting Technology 0 – 5 years’ work experience Registration as an AScT, or other technical accreditation, is an asset Proficiency in Civil 3D Software is essential Attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal & written); ability to produce accurate field notes Ability to work independently and also within a busy and high-performing team What Can We Offer You?
